Ruby

Ruby is my 13 year old basset hound. I got her as a rescue when she was 8 months. I was the 5th person to adopt her. Needless to say, she has some issues.
She instantly bonded with my other dog and the two were inseparable. They even ran away together, and luckily were found together, exhausted but with an adventure of a lifetime I like to believe. My other dog passed almost two years ago and Ruby hasn't been the same since. A part of her is missing. Her tail is never raised anymore. It wags still, but low. She makes me sad.
Ruby went completely blind about 2 and a half years ago. I think she has adjusted pretty well to that. She gets a long walk (where she trots the whole time) every morning and evening. She has special games she plays where I hide treats and she must sniff them out. I do my best to make her final years comfortable and as happy as I know how.

What a lucky dog to have such a caring owner. So sad she lost her 'friend'. You were lucky to have found each other.

Lucky girl!
